A haunted Halloween scene with glowing jack-o'-lanterns, a scarecrow with glowing eyes, eerie trees, and flying bats under a full moon — promoting the 2025 Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build

Every year, modelers around the world sharpen their hobby knives, heat up their resin printers, and unleash their spooky creativity for one of the most anticipated events in the community — the Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build. Now in its eighth year, and the second held in Boyd’s memory, this annual tradition honors our friend Boyd Crompton, a passionate builder who helped make this Halloween event what it is today. From gruesome ghouls to haunted heroes, the Halloween Group Build is your chance to create something truly creepy.

Whether you're painting a sinister vampire, 3D printing a zombified cartoon character, or scratch-building your own monstrous masterpiece, this is your time to shine. And best of all — anyone can join. You don’t need to be a member of Hobby Link International (though we’d love to see your progress on the HLI forums too). The rules are simple: start fresh, make it spooky, and have fun. Builds must be new (kits, 3D prints, or scratch builds welcome) and involve real modeling work — not just assembling parts. Halloween-themed is the name of the game, so think creepy, eerie, scary, or strange. All completed builds will be shown during our Halloween night livestream on YouTube, and every participant will receive a limited-edition challenge coin in Boyd’s honor.
