The 2026 Boyd Crompton Memorial Group Build Rules - Important To Read These!
Welcome to another year of eerie creativity! It’s time to start planning your spooky builds for the 2026 Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build! Now in its ninth year, this event honors our friend Boyd Crompton by gathering modelers to create creepy, Halloween-themed builds. Let’s dive into the rules so you can get started!
General Rules:
• New Builds Only: Your entry must be a new kit, 3D print, or scratch build. Previously started builds are not allowed if they’re already mostly completed. Small exceptions are okay (for example, a few pieces clipped from a sprue, a part primed, or an arm assembled). If in doubt, email us at hobbylinkinternational (at) gmail (dot) com.
• What Counts as a Build: Your build must include real work like sanding, filling, gluing, and painting. Simply assembling or printing isn’t enough to qualify.
• Halloween Theme: Entries must fit a Halloween theme—creepy, eerie, spooky, or similar. If you’re unsure whether your build qualifies, reach out for confirmation.
• No HLI Membership Required: You don’t need to be a Hobby Link International (HLI) community member to join, though we encourage members to share their progress with the community.
• If you post your entry on the HLI forum, please include this format in your title: “The 2026 Boyd Crompton Memorial GB - [Name of Your Build]” to help everyone easily find your project.
• Live Showcase: We’ll host a live YouTube stream on Halloween night to display everyone’s completed builds!
Submitting Your Build for the Halloween Livestream:
• Number of Entries: Each participant may submit up to 5 completed builds.
• Photo Requirements: Submit 5 to 15 photos of your build from different angles (front, back, side, top). Use a clean background for better visibility. Photos with cluttered backgrounds may be declined.
• Brief Description: Along with your photos, include a short article about your build (4–5 sentences). Mention details like the manufacturer, scale or approximate size, paints used, and your reason for choosing the build.
• Photo Labeling: Label your photos with a three-digit numbering format (for example, 001.jpeg, 002.jpeg) to keep them organized.
• Submission Options: Email your photos and description to hobbylinkinternational (at) gmail (dot) com or post your build in the HLI Facebook Group.
Memorial Gift:
• Everyone who participates in the 2026 Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build will receive a commemorative challenge coin in Boyd’s honor.
Important Dates:
• Start Date: November 1, 2025
• End Date: October 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM EST
• All photos and descriptions must be submitted by this deadline.
Video Participation (Optional):
• If you’re creating videos for the group build, please title them: “The Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build 2026.” This helps people find all related builds on YouTube.
Most Important Rule:
• Have fun and enjoy your build! We look forward to seeing your spooky creations.
