📜 Official Rules: 2025 Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build
Welcome to the official rules for the 2025 Boyd Crompton Memorial Halloween Group Build, hosted by Hobby Link International and HLI3DFX. This annual event, now in its eighth year, gathers modelers from around the world to create spooky, eerie, and creepy builds in honor of Halloween — and for the second year, we proudly dedicate the build to our dear friend Boyd Crompton.
Whether you're new to the event or a returning builder, please read the following rules carefully to ensure your entry qualifies for the Halloween livestream and the commemorative challenge coin.
🎃 General Rules
1. New Builds Only
All entries must be newly started for this group build. This includes model kits, 3D prints, or scratch builds.
🔹 No previously completed builds allowed.
🔹 Small progress is acceptable (e.g., a few pieces clipped or primed).
If you're unsure whether your entry qualifies, contact us at hobbylinkinternational@gmail.com.
2. What Counts as a Build?
A qualifying build must involve hands-on modeling work such as sanding, filling, gluing, and painting.
🔸 Merely assembling or printing a model is not enough.
3. Halloween Theme Required
Your build must fit within a spooky, eerie, creepy, or supernatural theme.
Not sure if your build fits? Email us or post in the HLI forum for clarification.
4. No HLI Membership Required
Anyone can join — no account or registration needed.
If you post your build on the HLI forum, please use this format in your topic title:
🧵 “The 2025 Boyd Crompton Memorial GB – [Your Build Name]”
5. Halloween Night Livestream
We’ll feature your completed builds in a special YouTube livestream on October 31, 2025.
Submit your photos and description by the deadline to be included.
📸 Submitting Your Build
1. Number of Entries
Each participant may submit up to 5 builds.
2. Photo Requirements
Send 5 to 15 photos per build with multiple angles: front, back, sides, and top.
Use a clean background for clarity — messy or cluttered photos may be declined.

-
Kit or file name and manufacturer
-
Scale or size
-
Paints/materials used
-
Why you chose this build
4. Photo Labeling
Label images with a three-digit format (e.g., 001.jpg, 002.jpg) to help us organize.
